Dear Dr. Gwen,

It takes a special person to put anothers needs before their own. I have family. My family would never help me the way you have. This past semester was the toughest yet. I truly appreciate your help and understanding. I could not have done it on my own.

To Dr. Lyne Bunch, without whom this book would still be a zillion handouts collecting in a file cabinet, without whom I would never have had the courage to share my ideas, and without whom the book would be replete with typographical errors.

By the cover I am sure that everyone assumes that this [book is] about the military. However I want to tell everyone that this is a book that talks about the harsh realities over growing up in the depression. It details a man's journey from [a] small child to manhood and all that happens in between. It is a wonderful heart warming book that I am sure will make a great movie some day. Read it you will be glad you did.
